The Winemaker
Alongside leading the family winery, Dr. Péter Podmaniczky also works as a researcher, university lecturer and winemaking consultant.
As a judge at international wine competitions he encounters wines from many countries, but the focus of his work today remains the same: how to show the southern shore of Lake Balaton’s own character as purely as possible through its wines.
The Estate
Our wines come from the vineyards of Kőröshegy and Szólád. The two areas are only a few kilometres apart. The closeness of Lake Balaton, the terrain and the differences in soil give the wines an outstanding character in every vintage.
Preserving the wine’s own character while revealing its hidden potential — this is the balance we seek in our work.
We believe that good wine is born from the synergy between nature’s conditions and the winemaker’s decisions.
The Family
The story of Podmaniczky Winery is the story of three generations of winemakers: Péter learned his love of craftsmanship from his grandfather, and the professional techniques from his father — knowledge he then raised to the level of a doctoral degree.
Three generations, three perspectives. Craft experience, professional knowledge and a scientific approach now meet within the same winery.
