The Winemaker
In addition to managing the family winery, Dr. Péter Podmaniczky also works as a researcher, university lecturer and wine consultant.
As a judge at international wine competitions, he encounters wines from many countries, but the focus of his work remains the same: how to show the character of South Balaton as clearly as possible through wines.
The Estate
Our wines come from the vineyards of Köröshegy and Szólád. The two areas are only a few kilometers apart. The proximity of Lake Balaton, the differences in topography and soil give the wines an outstanding character in every vintage.
How we think about wine
Maintaining the wine’s own character, while showing its potential, is the balance we seek in our work. We believe that good wine is born from the synergy of nature’s gifts and the winemaker’s decisions.
The Family
The history of Podmaniczky Winery is the story of three generations of winemakers: Péter learned the love of craftsmanship from his grandfather, the professional techniques from his father, and raised this knowledge to the level of a doctoral degree.
